Two photos this week, from a collection given to The Haven in 1988 by Earle Davis (for whose family Davis Road is named). The first picture shows the lodge in 1947; the second is Earle in 1946, with his 1928 Chevrolet. In an accompanying letter, he wrote: “We charged people $5 a day room and board, and when we raised the rates to $6 we thought the chance we’d go broke was good.”
