Jean McLendon

Jean McLendon, MSW, LCSW, LMFT, Director Advanced Studies, Satir Institute, UNC School of Social Work, Chapel Hill, NC. is a past president of the Virginia Satir Global Network and a recipient of its Living Treasure Award. Jean has over 50 years in the field of human relations.

Mentored for nearly 20 years by the late Virginia Satir. Of Jean’s work, Satir once wrote: “Jean has that rare capacity to be able to sit in the airport control tower and, at the same time, be aware of all the planes in her vision and be able to help them find out about themselves and their relationship to each other.”  When Satir became ill, she requested Jean direct her International Colorado Summer Module I Process Community.

Known as one of the world’s foremost practitioners of The Virginia Satir Growth Model, Jean has written over 20 articles and book chapters.  Her video ‘Family Therapy with the Experts’ is highly acclaimed. She maintains a multi-service clinical and coaching practice and travels widely, working in a variety of contexts, countries, and cultures.

Jean’s work is guided by her belief that change is always possible and that connection to our sacred worth opens infinite choices for action and response.
