Zen and the Art of Paddling

Aug 09 - Aug 11, 2019

Dip your paddle into a sea of possibilities.

Outdoor fun, kayaking and nature adventure!

This guided introduction to sea kayaking, delivers as much fun as it does skill-building opportunities, with lots of individual attention, an emphasis on safety, and engaging hands-on experiential learning.

Hilary paddle dipIt's designed as an introductory and familiarization weekend - no previous experience is required. You won’t have to get wet past your knees - no boat flipping or recovery drills!

You’ll quickly hone your paddling skills and learn to glide almost effortlessly through the water. Many who have mastered paddling efficiency liken it to a Zen-like moving meditation.

Hilary kayak group of womenOver the two days, you’ll learn how to enter and exit a kayak with ease, and practice balance, strokes and shoreline paddling techniques, all while surrounded by the natural beauty of our island paradise. You’ll gain experience in both single (one-person) and double (two-person) kayaks.

Plan to check-in at The Haven after 4:00 PM on Friday. We'll enjoy dinner from 6 - 7:00 PM in the Lodge dining room followed by an evening orientation.

On Saturday, we'll meet for breakfast at 8:00 AM, then embark at 9:00 AM to explore the island until Noon. After lunch at The Haven we'll relax on shore until our next excursion from 3 – 6:00 PM, returning for dinner at The Haven. From 8 – 9:30 PM on Saturday, we’ll enjoy a special treat – a paddle under the stars. If we’re lucky, the algae will treat us to a dazzling evening bioluminescence show - it’s a magical sight!

On Sunday, breakfast at 8:00 AM, a morning paddle, and the program conclude with lunch at Noon.

Sound like the perfect weekend?

We think so. We hope you'll join us!
