Kayak and Hike Gabriola
Dip your paddle into a sea of possibilities!
Outdoor adventure - kayak paddling, hiking and nature adventure!
This program offers the perfect way to explore the fascinating ecosystem around us – paddling, hiking, swimming, learning and more!
Gabriola Island has so much to offer, with parks and public trails connecting the whole island and some of the best beaches of the Gulf Islands.
Your spirit will soar through full days immersed in the natural beauty of our island paradise, and the pleasant exertion from outdoor activity will rejuvenate your soul. Through it all, you will gain a deeper understanding of the world around you as we weave ancient stories and natural history with our signature invigorating style of experiential learning.
Our forest-based activities will revolve around the themes of survival, navigation and risk management. You will build a new sense of confidence in the outdoors.
Our kayaking activities will be designed to match the skills and comfort level of our group – from beginners to those who already love to kayak. No previous experience is required.
You’ll learn how to enter and exit a kayak with ease, practice balance, strokes and shoreline paddling techniques, and gain experience in both single (one-person) and double (two-person) kayaks. You’ll quickly hone your paddling skills and learn to glide almost effortlessly through the water. Many who have mastered paddling efficiency liken it to a Zen-like moving meditation.
- Day 1, plan to check-in at The Haven after 4:00 PM. Dinner will be served buffet-style from 6 - 7:00 PM in the Lodge, followed by an evening orientation to the program.
- Days 2 - 4, we'll meet for breakfast at 8:00 AM and embark at 9:00 AM, explore the island until Noon, enjoy lunch at The Haven and relax until mid-afternoon. We’ll launch another excursion from 3 – 6:00 PM and return for dinner. On selected evenings we will enjoy guided sunset kayak tours, or paddles and swims amidst the bio-luminescence.
- Day 5, we’ll have breakfast at 8:00 AM, enjoy a morning paddle or other outdoor activity, and conclude the program with lunch at Noon.
Sound like a magical week?
We think so. We look forward to you joining us!
