Addiction in the Family

Using the systemic approach as developed by Virginia Satir, this psycho-educational, experiential opportunity will provide you with information to help you begin to deal with addiction in your family.

Addiction in the Family is designed to support you as you develop strategies and skills, deepening your understanding as you engage with this serious personal problem and social issue:

  • The fundamental challenge of addiction is the dis-connection from self and therefore others, a family disease/dis-ease.
  • We will explore how addiction develops, what resources exist internally and externally to support the re-connection to self and others.
  • We will look at aspects of Addiction, and its impacts from a Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy.

This Program is for you if:

  • you are troubled by the behaviour of someone in your family, you just don't understand why the behaviour continues in the face of harmful and damaging consequences to friends and family,
  • you yourself have achieved a minimum of one year substance free and are troubled by relationship issues with loved ones,
  • you desire to be connected more deeply with self and others,
  • feel lonely and isolated, your rationale for doing what you are doing doesn’t seem to work anymore,
  • you want to make a change and seem unable to, perhaps are afraid to take the risk, don’t know how.

Exploring this issue within the safety of support and acceptance results in your increased awareness, hope and potential to embrace the changes you want to see. You will have an opportunity to create a wellness plan as you begin to un-cover, dis-cover and re-cover resources to use for increased connection and intimacy with self and others.
